When Sam & Paul asked me to capture their wedding and engagement, I was elated! They are such a great couple. Both gorgeous. Both kind and funny. Both VERY stylish and I knew that their wedding would be off the charts beautiful… And I was right!
The day was wonderful. Amidst the BC smoke that rolled into the city, was a beautiful ceremony held at Confederation Park in the NW. Sam & Paul said “I do” in front of family and friends, under a beautiful wooden arch in the heart of the park.
The colour palette that Sam chose was to die for! The bridesmaids dresses were coordinating but not matching with beautiful shades of blush and pink. The florals were complimentary with blush, burgundy and lots of greens. And then there was Paul’s suit; a custom burgundy jacket and pants. The perfect accompaniment to the already gorgeous colours Sam had chosen.
After the ceremony we did formals at Confederation with the bridal party and then made a quick stop in Crescent Heights overlooking downtown. Surprisingly, the smoke actually made the cityscape look somewhat moody and romantic for their photos.
It was then time for the reception; a HUGE party at the Calgary Winter Club. Lots of amazing food, music, laughter and even some impressive Ukrainian dancing by the bride and some of their guests. I had SUCH a great day photographing this wedding. My face hurt from laughing and smiling when I got home. My job is truly a blessing. Sam & Paul; I wish you a lifetime of happiness and dancing together ;) -Melanie Xx
